Aren tree is classified as family of Palm or Areca nut plant, for every part of the tree can be function to anything, in fact its wood is almost likely seen as coconut wood, from pattern color and weight. One of the popular benefit from aren is sugar product, traditional people of Indonesia using its fruit to be processed as aren sugar. Aren sugar is not the only thing, the tree trunk is often seen to be the construction for roof of the local housing and traditional wall.

Aren tree is also known as Enau tree, original flora from tropical Asia. Aren outspread happened naturally, start from East India to South East Asia, including Indonesia.

Besides South East Asia, Aren tree can be found in several Asia such as Taiwan and Vietnam. The outspread of Aren in Indonesia can be found in Java Island, Sumatera, Sulauwesi, and Nusa Tenggara, and aren itself has its own name in each islands.

The real Habitat of Aren is tropical environment, it has natural behavior to grow anywhere, but the most optimum growth for the tree is in hilly area and river cliff with high humidity level. Also, it can grow in area parallel to sea level at 1.400 meters above surface, however the best elevation to grow is around 400 to 1.200 above surface. While the best soil condition is volcanic above mountain slope, loose soil, or sandy soil near the river.
